Expanded. Enhanced. Extraordinary.
The tag line was adopted last year to reflect the broader scope, improved content and renewed commitment to readers that Senior News 50 and Better offers. In keeping with that philosophy, we are pleased to announce the launch of our twelfth edition, Freeport Senior News, beginning next month.
This latest move comes on the heels of our expansion late last year into northern Illinois. Rockford Senior News was introduced in October, followed by DeKalb Senior News in November. Both publications were warmly received by seniors in those regions, and we look forward to earning the support of readers in Freeport in the coming months.
The Senior News 50 and Better brand was established in the Chicago area in 1986 by publisher Dennis J. Simonini, who expanded the reach of the publication throughout the city and suburbs. Currently, nine local editions of Chicagoland Senior News are distributed in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Will and McHenry counties.
Simonini brought veteran writer Dawn Williams on board in 2006. She served as managing editor and marketing director until last fall, when she was name associate publisher of the Senior News 50 and Better chain. Williams continues to oversee both marketing and editorial, and her work was instrumental in netting five national awards for the paper in 2011.
Simonini and Williams will be attending numerous senior expos and events throughout the readership area this year in an effort to stay informed of the interests and issues of readers.
